FAQ

Below is a list of the most frequently asked questions. If you have a question that isn’t answered here, please e-mail hello@thelifestyled.com and we’ll be happy to help you!

How long will it take to receive my order?

All pieces are made to order and can take approximately 1-2 weeks to ship. However, depending on our stock, some pieces may be ready to ship right away. If you need your jewelry sooner than the 1-2 week (plus shipping) timeframe, please contact us before ordering to see if we can accommodate. In an unlikely situation, a material that we need to make your piece could be out of stock from our suppliers which could delay an order further. In that instance, we will reach out to you and discuss if you’d rather cancel the order, choose another piece, or wait an extended period for it.

Do I need to worry about my jewelry tarnishing?

All Catherine Sheppard jewelry is made from high quality metals including 14k gold, 10k gold, 14k gold filled, and sterling silver. We will never sell gold plated jewelry, which tarnishes very quickly. However, all fine metals can tarnish over time or if exposed to certain compounds or even body chemistry. For example, pregnancy is a time where iron and pH levels in the body can be different and metals can react to your skin or vice versa.

Can I shower, swim, or work out in my jewelry?

You can. Catherine is devoted to making and designing jewelry that can be worn 24/7. She wears her pieces in the shower all the time, leaves them on for months without removing them, and hasn’t experienced any tarnishing. However, you will get more years out of your jewelry if you store them in dry place while showering, swimming, or working out, especially with the 14k gold filled. Since solid 14k gold doesn’t have a layer of another metal underneath the surface like gold filled does, it will be better suited for wearing 24/7 for many more years.

How long will my jewelry last?

When well cared for, 14k gold can be worn for a lifetime and passed on for generations. 14k gold filled is a much more economical option than solid 14k. It won’t last multiple lifetimes without tarnishing, but can last over 10 years when treated well. Sterling silver is more prone to tarnishing. We recommend that you wear it as much as possible to keep it shiny, or store it in an air tight place. Polishing cloths or soapy water with a soft bristle brush can also help keep jewelry looking shiny. We also recommend having your fine jewelry polished at a jeweler once a year or so.

Do you take custom orders?

As of right now, we aren’t taking fully custom designed orders. However, if you see something on this site that you would like to slightly modify, please contact us at hello@thelifestyled.com and we will be happy to do our best to accommodate your request.

What is your return policy?

Because every piece is made to order, all jewelry is final sale. Please take care in choosing, and measuring for your size so you can ensure everything will fit as expected (see information about sizing below). If there is an error on our part with your piece, please e-mail us at hello@thelifestyled.com and we will make sure it gets resolved. You can also feel free to reach out with any questions about the piece before ordering. If we can help you in your decision in any way, we’re happy to do so!

How does the sizing work?

CHAINS - The measurement of a necklace or bracelet is the TOTAL length from tip to tip, including the clasp and jump ring, not just the chain part. In some cases, the length won’t be exact because of the size of the links. For example, the links on the Leo are .5” which sometimes can make the piece a touch longer than the measurement you chose. If the length cannot be exact, we will always round up rather than round down. It’s helpful to measure another necklace or bracelet you have to determine the size you want, or use a tape measure.

RINGS - Rings are sized based on US ring sizing. If you’re unsure of your ring size, you check at a local jewelry store or can order a ring sizer for $4 on Amazon.

What if my piece breaks?

All Catherine Sheppard jewelry is made from top quality metals and should stand the test of time. With that said, these are delicate pieces and, just like any fine jewelry, could break if they get caught on something or pulled too hard. Please be cautious when wearing or storing your jewelry, and keep in mind that most life-long collection pieces go through a repair or two over time. If you experience a breakage within the first 30 days of purchasing your piece, please contact us and we will help solve the issue on a case-by-case basis. If a break happens after 30 days, any local jeweler should be able to repair your piece.
